NEW FIRE SIRENS MAY BE COMING TO HURON COUNTY

Huron County's Chief of Emergency Medical Services Dave Lew feels that introducing fire sirens to provide an early warning in the event of an emergency, would be a good idea. Huron County Councilors agreed after listening to a presentation that Lew presented to them. The current system can take up to 15 minutes to warn everybody by phone of an emergency. Lew says there are sirens in the area right now, but they need to make sure they meet the requirement of a particular type of tone.

It goes to County Council on July 4th for approval. Lew says once it's approved, then they'll look at an assessment of the current sirens. After the assessment they would present another report to council and hope to move forward with the project. Lew said it'd be nice to have them installed by next summer.
