Bruce Power is confident a work stoppage can be averted. Negotiations between the nuclear generating company and the union representing 1,200 employees on a new collective bargaining agreement have going on for the last few weeks.
There has never been any job action at the Bruce site and Director of Corporate Communications John Peevers says they hope that continues.
Peevers says there are contingencies in place in the event negotiations stall and the workers do end up walking off the job. Mike Gade — VP of the Society of United Professionals Bruce Local — told myFM that there are some issues that still need to be ironed out.
