The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority are sharing concerns about a letter by Minister of the Environment, Conservation and Parks Jeff Yurek addressing Conservation Ontario.
The letter talks about authority’s being prepared to “wind down” programs which aren’t “core-mandated,” which leaves a lot of questions to be asked about which programs the province is referring to, says ABCA General Manager Brian Horner.
Horner says they aren’t making any decisions until the picture becomes clearer as to what the province considers “mandatory programs.”
Earlier this year, the Conservatives slashed flood management funding by 50%.
