The issues surrounding Elliot Park are continuing to provide a challenge for local officials. They also point to a larger problem of homelessness and drug use in Huron County
Mayor of South Huron George Finch explains that elliot park is not meant to be a solution to either of those problems.
Finch says that he’s hoping to get assistance from the county and the province in finding long term solutions.
In the short term, Finch says that council is looking at putting tighter rules around tenting and dumping in the park, and people could be considered trespassing if they violate those rules.
He says he hopes council will have new by-laws in place by next spring.
