Today (Sept 10) is World Suicide Prevention Day. The highest rate of suicide is in adults aged 40 to 59. 42 to 45 hundred Canadians die by suicide each year.
CMHA Region Branch’s Health Promotion and Advancement Specialist, Melanie McGregor, talks about the loved ones left behind.
McGregor adds that, when it comes to suicide, loved ones are often left with more questions than answers. She says it is important to recognize all the emotions that come from a death by suicide.
