A Low Water Advisory remains in effect from the Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority. The ABCA says August stream flows range from 15 percent at the Bayfield River to 60 percent of normal.
This is well below the Level 1 indicator and as of early September, the waterways have yet to show any signs of recovery.
Water users are asked to voluntarily reduce water use by 10 percent, and an additional 10 percent within the Bayfield River watershed.
Extended dry conditions could cause a significant impact on aquatic life in local waterways.
The ABCA says if dry conditions persist it may be necessary to keep a Low Water Advisory in effect through the winter in preparation for a potential long-term water shortage.
