Now that we know Goderich residents want to keep the Memorial Arena, whether it remains as a hockey rink is another question. Council during Monday night’s meeting were given the results of the survey that revealed 63 percent of respondents want the Town to maintain the building.
They also directed staff to look into the cost of putting a second ice pad at the 70-year-old building or at the Maitland Recreation Centre. Councillor and memorial arena proponent Trevor Bazinet says it would make sense to have the second ice pad at rec centre.
But Bazinet was not happy after learning some survey results were removed because it was sent from the IP address. He says Council never authorized it and it meant only one person from each household was allowed to participate in the survey.
