The Town of Goderich are going to be going over the state of crosswalks in school zones. A memo from Director of Operations Chip Wilson was part of the agenda at last night’s (MON) Council meeting.
One of the crosswalks in question is at the intersection of Wellington and Blake Streets. Councillor Trevor Bazinet says there are not many places where school children can cross the road safely.
Bazinet says there is also the issue of having enough qualified crossing guards to manned the crosswalks. He says it is better to do something about it now than wait until a tragic accident to happen.
Staff are being directed to come back with a report that gives a number of options for Council to consider.
