The United Way of Perth Huron has raised 15 percent of their annual fundraising campaign goal. This year funds will help support nearly 50 organizations in Huron and Perth County.
United Way of Perth Huron Campaign Co-Chair Martin Ritsma says the United Way is also working on tackling the unignorable issue locally. Ritsma says poverty is a huge issue locally.
The United Way says a way to combat poverty is a living wage of $17.44. In 2017 the United Way was able to help over 5,000 people access affordable food in Perth & Huron.
