In response to the news on Wednesday that the Canadian Union Of Public Employees in the education sector are going on strike, myFM has obtained a statement from the Huron-Perth Catholic District School Board.
The local board says they are aware that CUPE workers (who represent office assistants, educational assistants, early childhood educators, secondary hall monitors, library technicians, and some clerical staff) may be engaging in a full withdrawal of services starting on Monday, October 7th.
The board says the strike is expected to take place if a deal is not reached between the government and the union.
In response, the Huron Perth Catholic District School Board is contemplating a response to a full withdrawal of services by CUPE with the safety and best interests of students in mind.
myFM will keep you updated on this developing story.
