The People’s Party of Canada had a poor showing in its first federal election, failing to secure a single seat across the country.
Locally, business owner Bria Atkins represented the PPC in hopes to secure the MP seat in the long-standing blue riding of Lambton-Kent-Middlesex. Atkins secured a little over 3.4% of the ridings votes, as Conservative Lianne Rood (Rude) ran away with the election with almost half of the votes.
Atkins said she was really happy with getting her feet wet in the political realm.
Atkins says it reflects more to his riding than the public’s view of the party when speaking to PPC leader Maxime Bernier losing his own seat, also to a Conservative candidate.
