South Huron council voted for a single ice pad as part of a grant application to the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
Councilors Ted Oke and Barb Willard voted against the single pad instead stating that the community needed two pads. Willard says stats from other arenas suggest only a few hours outside of town which is a reason two pads are needed.
Willard says she feels that council is coming up short for the people of South Huron
Willard says she believes families won’t stay here if they don’t have recreation facilities they need.
She adds council needs to make sure the community has programs for all children, seniors, and a place for anyone who comes to town…need to make sure people want to stay.
