United Way Perth-Huron continues to work across the region to raise awareness and help find solutions to unignorable issues affecting the community. One of those is homelessness.
Executive Director Ryan Erb says the conversation surrounding vagrancy has grown locally as the visibility of the issue continues to rise.
He said there’s been a mind shift in addressing homelessness, prioritizing affordable permanent housing rather than backing more shelters and supports.
The chapter has reached 24% of their campaign goal in its early days of fundraising. That money goes to many of their services including addressing vagrancy.
