With Halloween finally here the OPP is providing safety tips for parents and children. Police say you should carry a flashlight, pick a costume with bright colours and reflective material so you’re visible to drivers.
Other tips include wearing makeup instead of a mask that may reduce your visibility, avoid baggy clothing you can trip on and always cross the street at crosswalks and intersections.
The OPP says you should never trick or treat alone, stay in familiar neighborhoods and only go to homes that are lit up.
You’re also reminded to never go inside a house to get your treats and have candy checked by an adult before you eat it.
Motorists are asked to drive with caution and be on the lookout for trick-or-treaters. Local police want to ensure everyone has a safe and happy Halloween
