The Maitland Valley Flood Forecast Centre has issued a flood forecast for residents along the Lake Huron Shoreline. They say an intense low-pressure system will move across the Maitland and Nine Mile River watersheds today (Oct. 31), bringing with it high winds and rain.
Flood and Erosion Safety Services Coordinator, Stephen Jackson, has advice for residents.
He adds increased wave height may result in minor flooding of low-lying coastal areas, as well as increased risk of erosion to lakeshore bluffs.
Winds should be subsiding by Saturday, but Jackson encourages residents to always practice safety.
The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority has also issued a warning. The ABCA says due to the rain forecasts of 30 to 40 millimetres of rainfall could result in high streamflow later this weekend.
