The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario have voted for work to rule strike action beginning November 26th, a day after they’re in a legal position to strike.
Avon Maitland ETFO Union President Kent Cleland says they hope this will turn up the heat on the province in making a contract, as they feel they’ve been left with no choice to put this in play.
They’ve been working without a contract since August 31st.
As for what teachers will and won’t do locally as part of the work to rule, Cleland says he didn’t want to comment until they have an internal meeting and discuss the guidelines. He says there’s been minimal ground gained since their strike vote a couple of weeks ago. This applies to all ETFO employees in Ontario.
