The Township of Lucan-Biddulph has applied for a multi-million dollar Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program grant. The funding would go towards significant upgrades to the Lucan Community Memorial Centre.
Mayor Cathy Burghardt-Jesson says there would be a number of renovations made to the property if they were successful.
On top of all that there would be Change room upgrades including a gender neutral one, new washrooms, and a space for a smaller fitness gym. Burghardt-Jesson says the infrastructure of the centre as with most significant buildings needs an update over time and this will also make them more accessible.
The project price tag runs between 7 and $8 million and the mayor says if they’re approved the provincial and federal government would cover most if it. The township would be on the hook for about $1.8 million.
