Work will soon get underway to remediate the Goderich waterfront. Council received a report from BM Ross last night (MON) on what the design will look like and a sense of how much it is going to cost once the repairs are complete.
Mayor John Grace says he wants work to start as soon as possible. He says a couple of areas along the waterfront are the on the top of his mind.
Councillor Matthew Hoy raised a concern about keeping the Town and Council up to speed on the developments.
Grace says the Town will have staff on site and Council will be given updates on the progress being made.
According to the report from BM Ross, Huron District Contracting Limited will be brought in to do the work. They estimate costs will be around $500,000 for the materials, and between $600 and $1,000 an hour for labour.
Grace has said that the cost of the stabilization will be covered through water expansion reserves.
Council made beach stabilization a high priority after rain and strong winds caused severe damage to the waterfront.
