Local agencies from Perth and Huron Counties have created a local Charter of Rights of Children and Youth. The local Charter will appear as a calendar and be distributed in December across Huron and Perth Counties in places like schools and libraries.
Children Service Supervisor with Huron County Diane Millian says this is the finished product of a long-term product, and there’s still lots of work to go.
The planning of the project goes back to 2014.
Millian says they enlisted the opinions of youth of all ages up to high school. Older students shared their views through various art forms while early childhood educators were able to report how the younger generation perceived rights through their actions.
