Ahead of their planned merger with the Perth County Health Unit, the Huron County Health Unit have come out with a plan that determines how climate change affects public health.
Senior health promoter Laura O’Rourke says the plan is in it infancy stages but it will address how people’s health are affected by climate change.
O’Rourke says they will be taking a look at vector borne illnesses such as Lyme Disease and West Nile Virus and how it is related to extreme weather patterns.
She says there will be more of a messaging around climate change and what people can do to take care of themselves in these situations.
