The Municipality of South Huron is reviewing the current development charges as the by-law expires on March 31st.
Development charges help cover the cost of future infrastructure to pay for things that come with growth such as additional fire and police services, and water and road services.
CAO Dan Best says council’s considering expanding their development charges.
The background study report estimates over $52 million committed to future capital projects with about $9 million that can be recouped through development charges.
The municipality hopes to approve new rates during their March public council meeting.
