myFM has previously released a video allegedly taken at the Roaring Cat Retreat in Grand Bend. The video shows a trainer interacting with a grown tiger in its cage when it paws at the man, before getting on its hind legs and leaping at him.In response, the trainer kicks the tiger under its chin.
myFM reached out to various organizations for comments about the video and have not heard anything back.
Some research into Canada’s Accredited Zoos and Aquariums (CAZA) accreditation standards has provided some insight.
According to section 8.4 in CAZA’s Animal Welfare-Health Care and Management document “Members are not to manage lions, tigers or jaguars over the age of three months in unprotected contact situations.”
myFM has independently verified that the Roaring Cat Retreat is not a member of CAZA.
