Teacher strikes continued into the week with the first being on Tuesday from the Ontario English Catholic Teachers Association.
OECTA members posted outside of MPP Monte McNaughtons’ office and walked the street to make their stance known as passerby’s honked their car horns in a sign of solidarity.
Teacher Cristina Ferreira says they’re on the picket lines to protect the students.
She feels that students won’t have the opportunity to take electives and necessary courses they need in order to have a successful future if they don’t stand up now and defend publicly funded education.
The union’s decision to strike came after more than 40 meetings with the government with little headway.
