Bruce Power’s first Major Component Replacement project is underway.
In a news release, the company says they have begun the execution phase of the project.
Unit B is now offline and work will get going to upgrade Units 3 to 8, replacing the reactor components that will see the life of those units as well as the Bruce Power site be extended to 2064.
They say work is expected to be complete by 2033
Bruce Power says by expanding the life of the Bruce Power site by about 44 years will result in an annual injection of $4 billion into Ontario’s economy while creating and sustaining 22,000 jobs across the province each year.
President and CEO Mike Rencheck says the Unit 6 project marks the next big step in a long campaign to revitalize this site adding it takes commitment, focus and innovation to get us to this point.
