South Huron Mayor George Finch and a delegation of officials from the municipality attended the Rural Ontario Municipal Association annual conference last week.
Finch says that the South Huron delegation used the conference as a chance to rub shoulders with some influential people in Ontario’s government.
Finch mentioned that Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson spent conference advocating on behalf of residents in her constituency, and that he’s very happy to see her representing Huron and Bruce counties at the provincial level.
The topic of the intersection of highways 83 and 21 was also a discussion point for Finch and the Minister of Transportation, as Finch says that high levels of traffic in that area during the summer makes that particular intersection very accident prone.
Finch adds that he has mentioned the idea of a roundabout to the Transportation Minister, and has also raised the issue to Huron county council.
