Ontario Secondary School Teachers Federation delivered letters pleading for support from Avon Maitland district school board trustees at their most recent meeting.
OSSTF members showed up to express concerns to trustees about the current state of negotiations between the province and unions.
Shane Restall, President of Avon Maitland OSSTF branch explains that the letters were written by teachers and staff and personally addressed to trustees
Restall says that OSSTF members presented stacks of letters from teachers and members in hopes of getting the board to take action and help get teachers back into classrooms.
Restall adds that its the job of Trustees to protect student’s education, and that teachers should not have to be losing wages and protesting to protect students from government cuts.
