The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority is warning about high water levels leading to an increase in erosion around the shoreline.
Geoff Cade says previously implemented protection systems have failed sometimes within weeks, and at this point the amount of erosion and damage that’s caused is in the hands of Mother Nature.
Cade is the ABCA Manager of Water and Planning, and says they are working with their partners to encourage development away from the trouble areas.
High water levels comes in cycles he says, and while they don’t know when it will be, the levels are likely to be lowered again. Cade suggested visiting abca.ca to learn more about possible signs of instability among slopes and bluffs.
