Today (Thursday) teachers and education workers in the Ontario Secondary School Teachers union locally are participating in a one-day withdrawal of services.
Local OSSTF Secondary Teacher President Shane Restall says the unions want everyone to know that they are still here for students, and are standing up for classrooms and supports for students with special needs.
He says the local union did a letter-writing campaign to local MPP’s to express concerns.
Restall says the government cut over $19 million for education which impacts students, and roughly 300 plus educational workers.
Restall adds at the end of the day unions are fighting to maintain service levels from last year.
Members will be at the board office in Seaforth, and local MPP’s offices to voice frustrations with the government who hasn’t met with the OSSTF union since December.
