On Tuesday education unions were shocked when Minister Stephen Lecce gathered the media to make an announcement.
The Minister chatted about taking a different approach when it relates to class sizes and e-learning.
Local OSSTF Secondary Teacher President Shane Restall says the unions have the backing of parents and community members when it comes to the issues.
Restall says the union and the government had exploratory talks which started Sunday, lasted all through Monday, and into Tuesday until the Minister made the announcement.
Restall adds the big question is why wasn’t it done at the negotiating table, as nothing is set in stone or written on paper until it’s done at the bargaining table but this seems like a step in the right direction.
