The Ministry of Environment, Conservation, and Parks have cancelled all planned events at Provincial Parks.
This is due to the ongoing COVID-19 outbreak.
In a news release, the parks will remain open for outdoor camping and day use.
That includes Pinery in Grand Bend.
In a joint statement, Minister Jeff Yurek along with Health Minister Christine Elliott say they want to comply with Ontario’s Chief Medical Officer of Health’s recommendation to immediately suspend large events and public gatherings of over 250 people.
They went on to say that public safety and the well-being of visitors and staff in Ontario’s provincial parks is a top priority.
They say Ontario Parks will be monitoring the situation and reassess on April 1st and again April 15th.
