Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has announced the wage subsidy program will be extended. Trudeau says this program will be extended beyond the original June endpoint to help kick start the economy.
The wage subsidy program covers 75% of a workers pay (up to $847 per week) to help keep employees on the payroll during the COVID-19 pandemic. Trudeau says in April the economy lost almost 2-million jobs and he adds there’s 7-million people now receiving the Canada Emergency Response Benefit.
