A West Perth resident is out $3,000 after falling victim to a scam.
Perth County OPP say on May 8th they were contacted after the victim received calls from a phone company and a bank, claiming their bank card was compromised.
The victim then verified their banking information over the phone, giving the scammers access to their accounts where money was then taken.
The OPP would like to remind residents to never provide any personal information or banking information over the phone, even if the caller sounds legitimate. If you are in doubt, hang up, and contact your bank institution to verify.
