Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Education Minister Stephen Lecce say schools will remain closed. The announcement was made today and Ford says the safety of students is the number one priority. Ford adds daycares will open as part of Stage Two of reopening the province.
Lecce says public and private schools will remain closed until the end of June and students won’t return to class until September. The Education Minister says learning at home programs will continue and students will still get report cards and be able to graduate.
Publicly funded schools in Ontario have been closed since March 14th. The announcement today also included that overnight camps will not open this summer, but day camps can operate with strict public health measures.
