The COVID-19 pandemic has caused another issue to rise into conversation and that is mental health.
A recent online poll of 1001 Ontario residents suggests 7 out of 10 Ontarians believe we’re headed for a serious mental health crisis, while 67% worry about a loved one’s mental well-being and 53% are worried about their own.
CEO at CMHA Middlesex Beth Mitchell wasn’t phased by those findings, as they’re seeing an influx of inquiries on the local level.
Mitchell hopes an increased conversation around it as time goes by leads to more funding and support systems for those struggling.
Mitchell also notes the stigma around mental health still remains and that’s a roadblock in many forms stopping people from getting the help
