London Bridge Child Care Services operate 15 day care centres in Southwestern Ontario, all of which will not be opening Today (June 12) despite being given the green light by the province.
Co-executive director Angela Woodburn says the reason why is simple – they still have a number of concerns.
There’s no date in mind as to when they’d like to open their centres up to the 1,100 families in which they serve, but Woodburn said they won’t until they’re confident children and staff will be safe.
Public health and the province have pitched guidelines to practice physical distancing for kids, such as a “cohorts system,” which limits children per classroom with certain teachers, and having a screening system in place.
2 of their centres have been used as emergency care for essential workers during the pandemic, including Relouw in Exeter, which Woodburn feels is an advantage because they can use that experience of additional cleaning and protocols to the rest of their locations.
