For over a year George Finch has fought the OPP commissioner’s office on the idea of closing down the Exeter Huron County OPP detachment office and opt to move ahead with one location, in Clinton.
But he’s lost the battle, and by June 29th the Exeter location will be closed.
The South Huron mayor and former OPP member did not mince words, when discussing the front office’s decision with myFM.
He says council has honoured their OPP contract since 1993 and this has been the response, for police to leave at a time where Finch says South Huron is economically and residentially booming.
Calling an audible, Finch says council will push to have an OPP community services office included to their proposed rec centre design, only if their application for the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Fund is approved.
