The Exeter BIA Sidewalk Sale Days will not happen this year.
The BIA made the decision while taking into consideration the results from a public survey, in which 63% of respondents felt the promotion of Sidewalk Sale Days should not move forward.
Over 92% of the respondents said they read the suggested guidelines from Huron Perth Public Health with the remainder saying they intend to.
In a media release, BIA Manager Laura Connoly said the biggest reason for this is low overall participation by the businesses which, if promoted as a townwide Sidewalk Sale, would fall short of the grandeur that we want our visitors to expect.
She clarified this decision doesn’t mean the BIA won’t promote businesses sales on the weekend of July 16th, or any other weekend, owners have to simply inform the BIA of the sales for that weekend and they will promote them online.
