When a driver was stopped for stunt driving last week, they had a 15-month-old baby in the car.
Just before 10:30 p.m. on July 6th, Perth County OPP noticed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on Perth Road 180, in the Municipality of West Perth.
The vehicle was stopped after it was found to be travelling in excess of 134km/h in a posted 80km/h zone.
As a result, a 21-year-old driver from London was charged with: Race motor vehicle – Excessive Speed
A seven-day driving suspension and seven-day vehicle impoundment were initiated as per statute.
The accused is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Stratford at a later date.
The penalties for Racing include six demerit points, a $2,000 – $10,000 fine, a possible extended driver’s licence suspension, and up to 6 months in jail.
Drivers are reminded to obey the posted speed limits at all times and drive cautiously, as road and driving conditions can change quickly – including deer or other animals suddenly coming on the road.
