The South Bruce OPP want you to know that bicycles are considered a vehicle under the Highway Traffic Act of Ontario.
Cyclists must follow all traffic laws that are expected of drivers.
Some examples of laws for cyclists include: making a complete stop at controlled intersections, hand-signalling all lane changes and turns and light reflections are required when riding during hours where there’s not as much light.
Riders must also have a breaking system and wear an approved helmet if they are under the age of 18.
More safety tips can be found on the Ministry of Transportation’s website.
