A new plan on the reopening of schools in Ontario is reportedly set to be announced next week by Education Minister Stephen Lecce.
Lecce had recently made comments hinting that teachers or educators could maintain their distance from students by teaching from the front of the room.
Avon-Maitland Teacher’s Board Union President, Shane Restall disagrees.
Restall continues, explaining that teachers have ideas on how to return to work safely but have not been invited to be part of the discussions.
This he says, outlines a disconnect Lecce has with Ontario’s classrooms.
Restall adds that classrooms have become a much more collaborative atmosphere, emphasizing that “we learn together”.
