The Avon Maitland District School Board is asking parents and guardians to take a second and consider what your students need upon their return to school next month.
In a memo to parents, the message boiled down to two points: Think about your child, and think about people who live with that child.
The AMDSB says while to date there’s been a low infection rate among children, that can change. To that same point, most children who get COVID-19 will experience mild to medium symptoms and recover fine.
However children who have any ‘medical vulnerabilities’ may make them prone to a more severe reaction.
The board also points out that you have to also consider the well-being of the people around your child, such as the elderly or those immunocompromised.
The AMDSB says in the same memo it’s good for kids to be in school for their education and wellbeing, they just wanted to issue these thoughts to be considered.
