A new initiative will take the ongoing COVID-19 recovery effort to the next level.
Bruce Power and Cameco are partnering in the creation of the NII Centre for Next Generation Nuclear Technologies to identify post-COVID economic, environmental, and health care opportunities.
Bruce Power President and CEO Mike Rencheck and Cameco President and CEO Tim Gitzel held a joint virtual news conference yesterday (THU) to make the announcement.
Rencheck says the two companies will also expand their role in supporting the development of medical isotopes.
Rencheck and Gitzel were joined by Ontario Premier Doug Ford, Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe, Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson, and Associate Minister of Energy Bill Walker.
Rencheck says they hope the centre along with cooperation from federal and provincial governments can spur economic and medical development that will lead to better jobs and health care.
