The provincial government has announced it is providing financial support to local agricultural societies to help them get through COVID-19 pandemic.
The eligibility for agriculture societies to apply for funding is expanding to help offset the financial losses due to the cancellation of fall fairs, exhibitions and activities during the pandemic.
Over 175 events have been cancelled so far in 2020. Nearly $1 million is being made available to the over 200 Agricultural Societies in Ontario.
Minister of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs Ernie Hardeman said “the decision to cancel their fairs and events was a difficult but important one in order to do their part to stop the spread of COVID-19,”
