A new anthem has hit the town of Exeter.
Local resident Don Orr has written a song called the White Squirrel Lives in Exeter.
The song which talks all about how the white squirrels call Exeter home can be found below:
LYRICS:
A white squirrel grew in Exeter, coloured like the snow,
Miraculously, a blueblood squirrel, not an albino,
He courted all the lady squirrels, the black and greys alike,
And was a jolly papa squirrel, when a baby born was white
Eventually their numbers, grew equal with the rest,
And it made no matter dear, who courted in the nest,
Like our cats, their kittens, are coloured as they might,
Baby squirrels are black or grey, and others born are white.
Exeter is very proud of it white and furry friend,
And has a faithful volunteer who housed and pampered them,
Now the white squirrels have their souvenirs and Town status too,
And even have a common voice when their mascot speaks to you.
Now, the white squirrels wants a nickname, as did the mascot too,
So they launched a contest, to see what they could do,
And the dark-eyed beauty, with the long tail curl,
Was christened the :White Wonder: by a thoughtful girl.
The white squirrel live in Exeter, furrr-eee as the breeze,
It runs on the ground and feee-lies through the trees,
It scurries through the town, happy as can be,
And it gathers lots of goodies, to raise its family.
So, come along to Exeter, where there’s lots to see,
The centre of South Huron, at four and eighty-three,
A true taste of Ontario, the west coast to be sure,
Bring along your cameras and photo our white fur.
