As a lot of students head back to class this month, questions and concerns remain about how safe schools will actually be even with COVID-19 regulations in place.
There’s been major case spikes in countries that have already gone back to class, most notably in the United States.
Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says residents here have taken the pandemic seriously and the transmission rate is low, so a large case spike is not a guarantee.
She skirted a question however surrounding what it will take for the province to shut down a school in the event of a hike in positive tests.
The former minister of education says the province’s back to school plan is considered by experts is “widely recognized as the best in Canada.”
