The Thames Valley District School Board are working on ensuring a safe back to school plan is implemented and effective in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic.
While the focus and questions continue to swirl around students, faculty and support staff are also putting themselves into the fray.
That’s why the board is doing everything they can to protect them as well, Director of Education Mark Fisher tells myFM.
Fisher says every staff member is required to conduct a self-screening test each morning prior to work and if they show any symptoms they must call in and remain in self-isolation.
The board also hired over 1,000 additional occasional teachers with an expectation absences will be more frequent Fisher notes, adding they are receiving the same health and safety training as full-time teachers.
