The provincial government announced recently $37 million to help more than 15,000 people train for new jobs and upgrade their skills.
Included in that announcement is a boost to skilled trades, says Labour Minister and Lambton-Kent-Middlesex MPP Monte McNaughton.
The women are selected in partnership with The provincial Building and Construction Trades Council of Ontario, who’ll receive $450,000 for the initiative.
McNaughton says Ontario women are under-represented in trades. Only about 6% of tradespeople are women, compared to 20% in provinces like Newfoundland & Labrador.
