Local businesses have seen some recent pushback by customers in terms of mask mandates that are in place from the province and Huron Perth Public Health.
Recently some businesses have had people defy the mask orders, defy the posted number of people allowed signs, all while wearing shirts reading “Canada, Freedom is not optional”.
Some customers have threatened to call police if they are not allowed to shop without a mask, or pay how they prefer.
HPPH along with the Exeter BIA are letting everyone know that businesses are able to determine their own guidelines all while ensuring HPPH restrictions are met.
The BIA and health unit say the best solution is to offer alternatives for customers including curbside pickup.
