The Liberals pledge to connect 98 per cent of Canadians to high speed internet by 2026.
It’s an ambitious task, considering the country’s sparsely populated landmass, but Minister of Seniors, Deb Schulte says COVID-19 has exposed the necessity of high speed internet access.
The feds will begin accepting project proposals from municipalities, First Nations communities, provinces and territories.
1.7 billion is earmarked for the project which will cover 75 per cent of project costs.
