The Municipality of South Huron will NOT be getting funding from the Investing in Canada Infrastructure Program.
The Municipality was hoping for $6.74 million from the government for the project for a new recreation centre.
South Huron Mayor George Finch expressed disappointment in the decision via email but added applying was the proper thing to do for the Municipality.
South Huron’s grant application included a multi-use recreation facility with a single ice pad but be designed to fit a second pad, a single gymnasium, two multi-purpose spaces, a general space program, indoor walking track, and more general space.
Another grant proposal is still awaiting news, from a community group who surveyed many members of the community on their wants and needs, and submitted a similar proposal as to that of councils except it included 2 ice pads.
